Class of 2024: Composite 3-star recruit, No. 220 defensive lineman per 247Sports
Alijah Carnell was originally recruited by Matt Campbell at Iowa State in the Class of 2024. The three-star lineman committed to Campbell and the Cyclones over offers from Big 12 rival Kansas State as well as some non-power conference options like North Texas and Nevada. Penn State was not among the schools to offer Carnell out of high school.
Alijah Carnnell appeared in 11 games for Iowa State in 2025 and four games as a true freshman in 2024. He has recorded a total of eight tackles with credit for half a sack heading into the 2026 season.
Penn State has a number of options to fill the depth chart at defensive end positions this season, which is where Alijah Carnell is likely to be found. That likely means that Carnell will be found deep on the depth chart this season when the season begins. The top spots on the line will potentially be filled by players like Max Granville and Yvan Kemajou.
Alijah Carnell played for high school powerhouse Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, Nevada and was a part of a team that went a combined 26-1 as a junior and a senior.
