Yeah, that looks pretty nasty. Cabrera has made three rehab starts and looked pretty good in the last one (granted, Double-A hitters) and s0 he’s being activated from the 15-day injured list to make the start this afternoon against the Cardinals.

To make room on the active roster for Cabrera, right-hander Javier Assad was optioned to Triple-A Iowa. Assad has pitched well (3.59 ERA, 1.120 WHIP in 21 games, 10 of which were starts), but I imagine the Cubs want to have him stretched out to start, and they have two other pitchers (Aaron Civale and Colin Rea) who can throw long relief.
