Now here's a guy with some self-awareness.

NBC's Cris Collinsworth has never been shy about his love for Patrick Mahomes' game, but that is typically when he's on the call for a Kansas City Chiefs game. That wasn't the case on "Sunday Night Football" in Week 17 as the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Chicago Bears in 42-38 shootout.

Regardless, Collinsworth found a way to reference Mahomes – and poke fun at himself in the process as Brock Purdy sliced and diced his way through the Bears' defense, finding Kyle Juszczyk for a touchdown after extending the play for over eight seconds.

"Brock Purdy was drafted when they cleaning up the joint, but here he goes," Collinsworth said. "He's cleaning up the Bears so far tonight. I mean if this were Patrick Mahomes we'd be screaming, 'Oh Patrick Mahomes!' I know I would be screaming. But that's the way it works because he has made those kinds of plays all night long and just been carrying the 49ers."

Collinsworth's comments drew a chuckle from broadcast partner, Mike Tirico, who also poked fun at the analyst's remarks.

"I gotta say, what I love about you is you still have your speed," Tirico said. "You beat the internet to beat you up."

Social media has often pointed out Collinsworth's infatuation with watching Mahomes play and the analyst acknowledged that he sees a lot of the chatter.

"I like memes," Collinsworth said.

Perhaps a new one will be born in the postseason, especially since Mahomes won't be part of the dance this season.
