While the New York Giants are conducting a search for their next head coach, they may have to keep other positions in mind as teams request to interview their current coaches.
Such is the case with interim defensive coordinator Charlie Bullen, whom the Dallas Cowboys have requested to interview for their vacant defensive coordinator position.
Bullen has been in the coaching arena since 2006, between the collegiate and professional levels. He first entered the NFL when he was hired by the Miami Dolphins as a defensive assistant in 2012. He remained with the Dolphins, working his way up the ranks, before he moved out west to join the Arizona Cardinals. He was there from 2019 to 2022, then spent 2023 at Illinois before returning to the NFL.
Bullen joined the Giants in 2024 as their outside linebackers coach and was promoted to interim defensive coordinator in the middle of the 2025 season when Shane Bown was fired.
When Bullen took over the defense, there was a visible improvement that showcases his ability to motivate a team and use the players he has to the best of their ability.
The Giants have not said if they will allow Bullen to interview with a division rival, but if the Cowboys are interested, other teams probably will be, too.

Updated the above tweet because it’s unclear if the #Giants have yet granted permission to the #Cowboys. Hold the phone on that one.
