The LSU Tigers football season is inching closer, now down to double digits on the countdown clock. Kickoff against the Clemson Tigers is now just 87 days away.

As we continue to look back at the history of the Bayou Bandits to celebrate and prepare heading into the first game, there is also the matter of getting to know the current-day players.

Here is a look at the past and present of No. 87 at LSU:

No. 87 - TE JC Anderson

The Tigers added so many high-profile names to their offense out of the transfer portal that some of their recruiting wins have flown under the radar. Anderson is a very intriguing tight end who could end up playing pretty early on into his career in Baton Rouge.

The Mt. Zion, Ill. native was ranked as the No. 11 tight end in his recruiting class and the ninth player out of the state of Illinois. He has a massive frame for a true freshman at 6-foot-6, 256 pounds. He's already put on weight since arriving on campus.

Given his size, there is immediate interest in getting him out onto the field as a blocker. The exciting thing, though, is that he also has some receiving upside thanks to his skill set. He also played defensive end as well as basketball. It's clear that he is just a freak athlete.

LSU has a very talented tight end room. It's unclear how much Anderson will see the field over guys like Trey'Dez Green or Malachi Thomas, but he has a big role in the future plans. He's a great tight end to pair with someone like Ahmad Hudson, as well, looking into who's coming in the future.

No. 87 - DT Joey August

August is a walk-on who has been with the program since 2023. He's from New Orleans and has just one career appearance to his name, last season against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions.

While August probably won't play meaningful snaps on the field this year with the Tigers, walk-ons play a crucial role in game preparation.

Highlighting A Former Player Who Wore No. 87

WR Blain Bech (2000-2003)

Bech was primarily used as a special-teams holder during his time at LSU. He had a couple of successful fake attempts, one of them being a pass in the Sugar Bowl. If his name sounds familiar, it's because he is the uncle of former Tigers wideout Jack Bech. His brother Brett, not Jack's father, also played at LSU and for the New Orleans Saints.
