Drew:

Mastrud is another player I was unfamiliar with before starting this series. The first 3-seasons of his career take place during the rip in the time-space continuum that swallowed the Kansas State football team, but he emerged from the time warp in 2009 to be the fourth-leading receiver for Bill Snyder’s squad.

There are rumors regarding Mastrud being the Wildcats’ second-leading receiver in 2008, but as I mentioned before, no official records from 2006-2008 exist. If he had 38 receptions for 435 yards and 2 touchdowns as a junior, those stats have been lost to the mystery of the cosmos.

Anyways, Mastrud was a solid, serviceable tight end for the Wildcats during a strange stretch of football. He set a record that a couple of players later in the countdown broke, but when someone finishes their career at the top of their position’s all-time leaderboard, they’ve done something worthy of making this illustrious countdown.
