Now that the dust has settled on the Jeffery Simmons record-setting contract extension, general manager Mike Borgonzi still has one order of business to wrap up: extending guard Peter Skoronski.

Listed as an offseason priority by Borgonzi when he spoke at the NFL Scouting Combine, no real movement on a potential deal has trickled out of the facility, although talks are likely ongoing. And as Turron Davenport of ESPN reports, extending Skoronski makes the most sense.

Tennessee TitansG Peter Skoronski

General manager Mike Borgonzi aims to secure the Titans' best players early to keep their roster intact. Skoronski is undoubtedly one of their better players, so exercising his fifth-year option was a no-brainer. However, the Titans would like to get a long-term deal done with him. Skoronski would join Jeffery Simmons as the only two Titans first-round picks since 2015 to get a second contract. Skoronski has started all 48 games he has played since joining the team as the No. 11 pick in 2023.

Locking up Skoronski now will help the Titans sort through their future plans along the offensive line. With Dan Moore underwhelming during his first season in Nashville and JC Latham entering a critical season with his fifth-year option on the horizon, Tennessee cannot afford to have its best offensive lineman waiting for a contract extension, especially if his price tag increases after another outstanding season.
