Welcome to the Morning Commute

Today we’re talking about Mizzou Soccer and VB

Can you believe it? The college sports season is here. Well, not quite officially but Mizzou Soccer got underway with an exhibition game on Wednesday night against Lindenwood.

The Tigers picked up a 3-1 win over the Lions — who were predicted to finish first in the OVC preseason poll.

Mizzou starts it for real with the opener next Thursday night at Western Kentucky as they look to build some momentum under head coach Stefanie Golan. More from Jack Wiselogel’s debut piece.

On the volleyball side, Dawn Sullivan’s Tigers will be on national TV a lot this season with seven games televised — highlighted by the match against Nebraska at Wrigley Field on September 6th.

In this year’s poll, the Tigers are one of nine Southeastern Conference teams, joining Georgia (3rd), Texas (4th), Texas A&M (8th), Oklahoma (9th), Mississippi (10th), Alabama (11th), Louisiana State (13th), and Tennessee (18th). Mizzou will be playing five of those teams this year.

Good to see Mizzou ranked … but a ridiculously tough schedule awaits the Tigers.

The former Tiger returned to Columbia this summer as an assistant coach under new head coach Robin Goodman with a clear vision: restore a program she believes has always possessed the resources to compete in the SEC and build the culture needed to maximize them.

Bronte Murgett has high hopes for the Mizzou Tennis program. It’s always good to have a former player on the coaching staff.

Christian Brothers College High School outfielder Brady Rallo has verbally committed to Mizzou, continuing a deep-rooted family baseball legacy in Columbia. The left-handed prospect and two-way defender boasts elite tools for his age, highlighted by a 101.3 mph exit velocity and a 90 mph arm across the outfield and first base.

Rallo joins an SEC program, where his father, Mike Rallo, uncle Ryan Rallo and cousin Nick all previously played. The Class of 2028 standout brings high-level travel ball experience with Canes Midwest National to the Tigers. With his decision, the multi-generational Rallo family connection to Mizzou adds its newest chapter.

Brady Rallo looks like a big in-state commitment for the Mizzou Baseball program with plenty of family ties.

While the result won’t count in the standings, Missouri heads into the season with encouraging signs in the attacking third and momentum from a strong preseason performance.

A good start for Mizzou Soccer despite an exhibition match.
