Today we’re talking about Mizzou Football.

Mizzou football has appeared in a preseason ranking. On Tuesday, the American Football Coaches Association released its preseason poll. As for the Tigers, they come in at No. 25.

It’s the second time Mizzou has appeared in the preseason coaches poll in the Eli Drinkwitz era. In 2024, the Tigers were ranked 11th in the preseason August 5th poll.

In this year’s poll, the Tigers are one of nine Southeastern Conference teams, joining Georgia (3rd), Texas (4th), Texas A&M (8th), Oklahoma (9th), Mississippi (10th), Alabama (11th), Louisiana State (13th), and Tennessee (18th). Mizzou will be playing five of those teams this year.

For Missouri, the Tigers got a rare win against the Sooners in dramatic fashion in 2024 and then fizzled in Beau Pribula’s rushed return in 2025. Oklahoma could potentially have a lot to play for when they make their return trip to Columbia, but maybe Missouri is hitting its stride as well? This could either be an under-the-radar marquee matchup if Mizzou is able to improve off of last year’s campaign.”

Oklahoma all-time has been a challenging opponent for Mizzou. They lead the all-time series 68-25-5. But when the Tigers are able to find wins against the Sooners, it’s spectacular (2024 and 2010)

Smith admitted that the modern age of the transfer portal and NIL is complex to traverse as someone who loves the recruiting process and having athletes buy into a culture over multiple seasons. Still, that didn’t stop him and his staff from getting some high-profile transfers this offseason in Zan Fugitt and Luke Goeg. They only add to a talented group of wrestlers with All-American potential.

Glad to see Brian Smith and co. still finding ways to be successful while navigating the ever-changing landscape of college athletics.
