While hosting his youth football camp, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones provided an update on where he is currently in his recovery process, with training camp drawing near.
Jones suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in the Colts' Week 14 matchup last season with Jacksonville.
“I’m doing everything," Jones said, via The Athletic's James Boyd. "Cleared to do everything. I think it’s just about, at this point, sharpening that.”
This news doesn't come as a surprise. Jones has seemingly been moving relatively quickly through the recovery process.
In OTAs, Jones took part in the individual portion of those practices. Then, in minicamp, he participated in the 7-on-7 team periods. Getting back to 11-on-11 work would seem to be the next box to check.
Jones also mentioned during offseason programs that he believes he will "absolutely" be ready for the season opener.
The Colts will hold their first training camp practice on July 29. We will see if fully cleared means that Jones is a full go from the jump or if he's eased back in.
"I'm feeling good," Jones said, via Colts Roundtable. "Feeling good. I think I've made a good bit of progress since minicamp, and we'll continue to do that these next two weeks."
The Colts signed Jones to a two-year, $88 million deal earlier this offseason. Through the first 10 games last season, he and the offense were off to a red-hot start. The belief internally is that success can be replicated.
