The last time we heard from Indianapolis Colts' cornerback Charvarius Ward, he was contemplating his NFL future.
In Ward's first season with the Colts, he missed time on three separate occasions due to concussions, which included two stints on injured reserve.
The symptoms from the second concussion that Ward sustained, when he ran into tight end Drew Ogltree pre-game, lingered for some time.
However, on Monday, ESPN's Stephen Holder posted on X that Ward is "legitimately" reconsidering his original stance.
"Regarding CB Charvarius Ward," Holder posted, "who revealed last month he was strongly considering retirement after a series of concussions, I heard from him recently and he was legitimately reconsidering that stance. Have not heard a final decision but that remains fluid."
The 2025 season was Ward's first with the Colts. Indianapolis signed him as a free agent this past offseason.
In seven games, Ward allowed a completion rate of 57% on 37 targets with seven pass breakups, according to Pro Football Focus.
When he was on the field, the Lou Anarumo defense operated differently and was more aggressive with Ward's ability to lock down half the field as a coverage defender.
