TIME released its list of the 100 most influential sports figures, with luminaries such as LeBron James, Shohei Ohtani and Lionel Messi headlining the club. With that said, college sports was also represented by some high-performing individuals.

Indiana Hoosiers football coach Curt Cignetti made the cut, with TIME highlighting his journey from being hired at Indiana to his leadership during the program's national championship victory a few months ago.

Not to be forgotten was former Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who led the nation in touchdown passes this past season. TIME noted that Mendoza led the Hoosiers to the first 16-win season in college football since 1894, while also mentioning his charitable efforts off the field.

Another college athlete who made the list was Texas Tech softball superstar NiJaree Canady. TIME mentioned the lucrative NIL package she received from the Red Raiders, and discussed the accomplishments that have made her well worth the investment. Canady pitched a perfect game on senior day, perhaps putting the perfect regular season cap to an all-time collegiate softball career.
