The first week of August signals the beginning of college football preseason polls.
The 2026 US LBM College Football Coaches preseason Top 25 poll will be released on Aug. 4.
Though not as directly involved with deciding the national champion as during the BCS era, the preseason polls set the public narratives early.
Ole Miss football, in Year 1 of the Pete Golding era, is coming off a College Football Playoff semifinal run and can put the noisy Lane Kiffin era behind it — possibly after the LSU game in September.
USA TODAY Sports will unveil the preseason US LBM Coaches Top 25 live on YouTube, with instant analysis from the national team of college football experts Blake Toppmeyer, Matt Hayes, John Brice and Paul Myerberg and will include a special guest during the poll reveal.

The Rebels return Trinidad Chambliss at quarterback and enough mixture of experience and transfer portal help to contend for a College Football Playoff berth again.
Ole Miss almost certainly will be inside the top 25. Will it be inside the top 10? We'll see soon.
