Gotta admit. I was a bit skeptical about Green, but that guy was a weapon out there tonight.
If he can play at that level throughout the entire year, and everyone stays healthy, maybe the Suns won't be terrible.

I don't think we're "good", but I am starting to think we're also not "bad". Very impressed by the hustle, the ball movement, the defensive awareness and Ott is on point with his "time OTTs", like, the instant the momentum seems like it is turning against us, he calls a timeout. He doesn't do the Vogel, wait until the 12 point lead is a 3 point hole before he wants to think things over.

They are certainly way more pleasing on the eye than last season and seem far more capable than last year's team of going on runs, they just play faster and really work in transition. The way we went from down 3 or 4 at the half to up 20 in the third was very impressive.

Also, Allen is night and day from last season with his hustle.

Maybe it is because he is an off ball guy and last season, running around off the ball was just cardio... or maybe it's because he skimmed off his dad bod and his new dad life is probably less hectic.

These Suns have really active hands. Lots of steals.

Absolutely, they're playing defense that requires a lot more effort than last year, they're forcing guys to pick up their dribble and find a pass. We're only 9 games in, but if they can keep up this level of effort they're going to really stick it to undisciplined teams.

I think Ighodaro is starting because, like most coaches, coach Ott is biased toward players who have been playing with each other the longest. He wants to start players who were there last year.

Oso didn't start and hasn't for a few games now. Ott wasn't here last year so why would he care who was here last year? In which case Richards was also here and is more of a C than Oso. Not much makes sense in this post.

I hope Jalen can keep up the energy. He does play like a more explosive younger Bradley Beal. Another player he reminds me of is Donovan Mitchell except not as undersized. Coming from Cleveland, I can see why Ott wants to try the Book/Green backcourt. It could be a better version of Garland/Mitchell.

Never even thought of Cleveland, but I think they are a decent comp for this team. Couple good scoring guards surrounded by scrappy shooters and a couple good bigs. We don't quite match them in the bigs department but may well be better in the scoring guards department. I think this team could be surprisingly good with good health and consistent hustle.

Fun game to watch. Green was great for a first game. Seemed a little trigger happy initially, but seemed to settle down and played within the flow of the game. It was huge to have someone who could get their own when book wasn’t on the court.

That dude is a little odd. Looks like he is mad all the time. Has that half smile half grimace on his face. Little bit of a guilty criminal look to him.

Reminds me of Jason Stratham’s long-lost American smaller evil twin brother.

I think Book would have had 30 plus if it wasn't for Green in the court. But Green is a player that will command the double team. If we work it right, everyone will get better looks with both on the court. As long as he actually initiate an offense, it could work.

Good stuff in this interview. The thing he said that stood out to me is that he thought his conditioning going into the game was pretty poor. What's he going to look like when his conditioning is good??

You cannot underestimate the value of the gravity that Jalen provides when he is on the court. You could see it a little bit tonight, but I think games a week from now will be much more representative of what that will look like going forward. Through the previous games, we had no one to provide extra gravity when Book was in the game (which as a side note, makes Book's start all the more impressive). If we continue this upward trend, the presence of both guys on the floor together will not only open up easy shots for the two of them, but everyone else on the floor. If Jalen is just average at his efficiency, the skies the limit. Our biggest issue will be if both Jalen and Book have off nights. That will come, but hopefully not very often.

You need that third player who is really good at a support role but also can take over a game on occasion when the need arises. Maybe it's Brooks.

I think it's pretty apparent that Grayson is fighting for that role as well.

Watching the highlights, they need to eliminate the 3 second D call, or they need to call it. Zu just camps in the key.

Agreed. I've never been clear on why it exists in the first place. Discourage zone defense? Why would you want to do that?

If you want to be encouraged, go look at Devin's stats when he was 22 and compare them to Jalen's. There isn't that much difference.
Gonna have to disagree with this. Devin was putting up almost 27/7 on 52% EFG% (in his 4th season at 22). Green put up like 20/3 on 50% EFG% last year. There is a world of difference in those numbers.
