Day 2 of Cleveland Browns training camp took place on Thursday, July 30. This is the last day for players to get work in prior to fans starting to show up, so were the quarterback performances any better today? Let’s dive in.

Cleveland Browns Training Camp Report – Day 2 (7/30/26)

1. Deion Sanders in the House: Watching practice today was Deion Sanders, the father of QB Shedeur Sanders. Deion talked to head coach Todd Monken before practice, but beyond that and catching up with his son after practice, he was an observer, not doing media interviews.

Deion Sanders is at #Browns practice today. He politely declined an interview. "I'm not doing media," he said. "I'm just here to watch." Sanders and Browns head coach Todd Monken chatted on the field earlier in the day. @ShedeurSanderspic.twitter.com/vzV5EIfLG9

2. Pre-Practice QB Talk: Browns GM Andrew Berry talked about the quarterback situation, including whether they should favor starting the young quarterback (Shedeur Sanders) over the veteran (Deshaun Watson). Ultimately, it simply depends on who will perform better now — age is not a factor. You can read more about that here.

Head coach Todd Monken also talked to reporters, and was quick to cover for Watson after all the headlines rained down on his two interceptions on Day 1. He thought the first throw was an ‘elite’ throw by Watson that CB Denzel Ward made a great play on:

Todd Monken just reiterated these sentiments on Deshaun Watson’s INTs yesterday. Said Watson’s first pick was an “elite” throw but Denzel Ward made a “great play.”

On the second INT, Monken said there was some “leakage” on the offensive line that forced Watson to slide and be… https://t.co/ZtgUfEDobh

3. Delpit With a Note on Defense: Players are always going to talk up a new coaching staff’s scheme, but nonetheless, here is the optimistic take that S Grant Delpit has on the Browns’ style of defense, in comparison to the past few years of Jim Schwartz:

Browns S Grant Delpit called new defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg’s scheme “exotic” and said there is a lot of disguise and communication.

Cleveland is keeping the basis of Jim Schwartz’s attacking scheme intact, but the disguised looks could be a big differentiator.

4. QB Reps:The quarterback rotation began today, with Sanders being on the first team offense (along with LT Spencer Fano), and Watson going to the No. 2 team. They wanted to keep other personnel relatively consistent to compare reps accordingly, so that means rookie receivers KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston remained with the second team.

5. Offensive Line Update: We’re expecting a healthy competition at right guard too, and Zac Jackson of The Athletic noted that KT Leveston was first up at right guard for Day 2 of practice.

6. Who Said He Wasn’t a Receiving Tight End? The Browns signed TE Jack Stoll with the reputation that he would be a blocking tight end, but he made several catches today, including this one from Sanders:

7. Watson With a Better Day 2: Quarterbacks seem to like working with WR KC Concepcion so far. Here is QB Deshaun Watson connecting with him on a pass to the perimeter:

It was a sharper day for Watson, according to reports, than his first day of camp. Here is a good timing pass to WR Malachi Corley in 11-on-11 drills:

8. Brownies: TE Joe Royer is still dealing with a personal matter. … DE Jared Verse talked to the media before practice, including the possibility of the team adding DE Jadaveon Clowney. … One report said that Mason Graham “has been living in the backfield the first two days of camp.”… CB Damarri Mathis was back at practice, but not DT Kalia Davis.

9. Up Next: The Browns will practice on Friday at 1:30 PM ET. It will be the first session open to the public.
