Michael Malone is still working through his roster for the 2026-27 season, doing though with a few big transfer portal additions. But he has also brought in a two-man recruiting class for 2026, re-securing the commitments of Maximo Adams and Malloy Smith.

With Malone being on the job for a month, more and more focus will be on future recruiting classes and the impact he can have on that. The 2029 class is still a while away from being in serious consideration but it's never too early to know the names of prospects.

And one prospect that is already talking about UNC is in-state forward Grant Duggins.

Travis Branham of 247Sports caught up with Duggins to discuss his recruitment so far and the 6-foot-9 power forward out of Greensboro Day, had something interesting to say about UNC:

"I like North Carolina, I've liked them since I was young," he said. "I don't follow them super closer but I cheer for them."

"I think it's interesting to get an NBA coach but I haven't heard much about him so I will be interested to see what happens," he added of the Tar Heels.

Duggins will likely be on North Carolina's radar as the months go on. Like we said above, 2029 is still a few years away but the Tar Heels could get an early look at him on the AAU cycle this Summer.
