One of the most under-the-radar moves of the 2026 NFL offseason was the San Francisco 49ers' acquisition of receiver Christian Kirk. The decision, coupled with the addition of Mike Evans, gives the 49ers a clear trio of receivers with Ricky Pearsall.
At the time of the report, it wasn't clear what the 49ers were paying Kirk in 2026. Now we know it's a one-year deal worth up to a maximum of $6 million, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson. Kirk's deal includes a base salary of $3 million, with $2.78 million fully guaranteed. Kirk earned a $1.17 million signing bonus as well.
That's not a bad deal to give the 29-year-old receiver. In 56 games over his eight seasons in the league, Kirk caught 432 passes for 5,415 yards and 30 touchdowns. He began his career with the Arizona Cardinals for four seasons, then played three with the Jacksonville Jaguars and spent the 2025 season with the Houston Texans.
After five consecutive seasons of at least 45 receptions for 600 receiving yards and three touchdowns per year, Kirk has only 55 receptions for 618 yards and two touchdowns over the past two seasons.
The 49ers didn't sign Kirk to be a top pass-catcher in the offense. He'll serve as a veteran presence alongside Evans, Pearsall, and Christian McCaffrey, giving the 49ers a solid floor heading into 2026. This signing also doesn't preclude the 49ers from taking a receiver early in the 2026 NFL draft.
