Back in 2021, Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field during Euro 2020 (delayed a year due to the pandemic) after suffering cardiac arrest. It was a horrifying incident that put Eriksen's career in doubt.

On Sunday, Eriksen collapsed on the field again.

Denmark's international friendly against Ukraine was suspended in Odense, Denmark, after the Wolfsburg midfielder fell to the pitch in what appeared to be another medical emergency. Trainers rushed to the field to attend to Eriksen who had an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) installed after his 2021 incident.

The 34-year-old was seen holding his chest as he fell to the field.

The match was called off after the incident, but the DBU did have encouraging news about Eriksen. The federation said in a statement that Eriksen was conscious and doing well.

He will undergo further testing, but that is obviously a relief given the circumstances.

Denmark failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in the U.S., Mexico and Canada. So, this was Denmark's final match of the summer. We'll have to see if this health scare impacts Eriksen's club status with German side Wolfsburg.
