For now, to fans of the Boston Celtics, newest incoming player Chris Cenac Jr. is something of a mystery. And for good reason given he is a very raw player with prototypical star athleticism and measurables that may yet be a long way from coming together after a season suiting up for Houston at the college level.

But the No. 27 overall pick opened up a bit after being picked up by Boston in the first round of the draft, giving us our first look at who this New Orleans, Louisiana native might be for the Celtics. "I feel like I can bring a lot (to Boston)," said Cenac. "My versatility, being able to space the floor. But definitely my defense, rebounding, coming in and playing hard, doing whatever it takes to help the team win and get on the floor. I feel like I can bring a lot to the team, and I'm looking forward to getting to Boston and getting to work."

Cenac shared that while he did not work out for Boston, he did speak with them at the 2026 NBA Combine, likely given he was expected to go earlier in the draft by many analysts. "I'll start off with saying thank you to the Boston organization for taking me. They're going to get a high character guy coming in ready to work and get to it."

"I feel like I can definitely be that piece that helps the team a lot," suggested the Houston alum. "I'm the type of guy that's willing to do whatever it takes to help the team win."

"I'm going to come in and play hard, defend, rebound, space the floor, make shots. So I'm ready to get to Boston -- I'm ready to get to work."
