The 38-year-old Messi secured his first World Cup hat-trick, tying Miroslav Klose's all-time World Cup goal record of 16. Argentina would go on to complete the 3-0 shutout victory over Algeria, much to the excitement of the packed crowd.

Mahomes, who has collaborated with the Argentina star in the lead-up to this summer's World Cup, had a jersey swap last year. He shared his appreciation on social media shortly after his last goal.
