Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Nohl Williams spoke with the media on Tuesday at mandatory minicamp. He revealed comfort level and increased role heading into next season.
“For sure, way more comfortable than last year. I would say that I’ve gained – the terminology is easier, it’s more ingrained into my brain now – the scheme,” said Williams, “The second year in the defense, you should catch on, or you’re not studying.”
The departures of veteran starters Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson have opened up opportunities for Williams to stand out in his second year.
“I’m still attacking it the same. I attack it even harder now,” said Williams, “You know, I would be lying if (I said) they don’t expect a lot from me, but I’m ready for it. I’m prepared; I’m going to keep preparing still in the offseason and going into training camp, so (I) just got to keep preparing.”
Williams finished his rookie season with 48 total tackles and seven pass deflections in 17 games played.
