The Charlotte Hornets took a step in the right direction in the 2025-26 season, finishing with a 44-38 record and making it to the Play-In Tournament.

While the Hornets weren't able to make it out of the Play-In Tournament and snap their playoff drought, they had a promising season around their young core of LaMelo Ball, Kon Knueppel, and Brandon Miller.

That trio has laid the foundation for success, as they were all very productive. Ball averaged 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 40.7 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from three.

His scoring and playmaking set the tone on offense and helped Knueppel have an impressive rookie campaign. Knueppel narrowly lost the Rookie of the Year race to Cooper Flagg, averaging 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists while shooting 47.5 percent from the floor and 42.5 percent from behind the arc.

Miller also played well in his third season in the league, averaging 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and a steal per game, shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from deep.

Charlotte now has a pivotal offseason to improve the roster to make a playoff push in the 2026-27 season.

One player they should target in free agency is Detroit Pistons forward Tobias Harris. Harris is coming off a productive season, as he averaged 13.3 points per game along with 5.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists. He shot 46.9 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from distance.

The 33-year-old forward would be a great addition for the Hornets, providing veteran leadership and playoff experience while being a solid scorer and shooter.

Charlotte could use some more veterans on the roster, and Harris could start at forward or be a quality bench piece. They don't have a ton of depth at forward, which makes Harris make more sense for the Hornets.

He would fit well alongside Ball, Knueppel, and Miller and could be a valuable addition as they look to end their 10-year playoff drought.
