People on this forum are severely overrating Cromartie. He isn't anything more than an mediocre corner who gambles a lot.
So now the question is would you trade Tim Hightower for Cromartie?
No, we need HT...So now the question is would you trade Tim Hightower for Cromartie?
Not if this means Whiz looks for another rook behind Beanie (which I don't think we do). Or it could mean we would keep Jason Wright and see alot more of LSH. I guess anything is possible but I don't see that being an equal trade lol.No, we need HT...
Shane, your loyalty to Boldin is admirable. I was that way with Jake Plummer, but I think it's time to get into reality. Q is a fine player, but his better days are behind him. He is injury prone, isn't the tackle breaking machine of his first few years, and he will be 30 years old this upcoming season.
I think you are way overvaluing what we can ever expect to get for Boldin. The rest of the league views him for what he really is, a good possession receiver who can't stretch the field. Sure he can break a long one every once in a while, but in a lot of ways he has become our Larry Centers (8 yards and a pile of dust).
The cold, hard truth is that he isn't an elite player anymore. We would be absolutely nuts to not take Antonio Cromartie for Boldin straight up. There is no way this is going to happen because the Chargers would never make that deal. A freakishly talented cornerback is much harder to find than a possession receiver.
Just my opinion.

IF San Diego would do this trade straight up I would pull the trigger. This gives us arguably the best cover corner duo in the NFL and the spit extra second we get from the coverage would get us at least 5-15 extra sacks on the year.

No way the team would pull the trigger on that IMO. Whiz loves Hightower because of his great attitude and work ethic. Cromartie looked balless on that play. Balless=anti-Whiz.

You can't judge the guy one one play, i don't care how good or bad it was. If that's the case why not judge him on his 109 yard TD return.
If Whiz/ Graves or whoever turned down a Tim HIghtower for Cromartie trade, they should be canned on the spot. Let's be realistic, SD would never even consider accepting that trade. The guy is a 25 year old cover CB with size and speed and former 1st round pick. He's also been very productive. He's not getting traded for the likes of TH.

I like TH. He's just not the type of player that will net you a guy like Cromartie. If it were a regular season game I would agree, but not in the playoffs IMO. I am also not saying this is the right move, just what I think the Cards would do.
Hightower is no slouch though. We don't just like him because we're Cardinal fans. He averaged over 4 yards per carry and had over 1,000 yards from scrimmage last year splitting time, has like 25 TDs over the past 2 seasons (if you count the playoffs) and would be a perfect backfield partner with Sproles. They can both run, catch and block.
I watched the play and he should've made the tackle but i can see why he missed. It looks to me like he thought Green may try to bounce outside, you can tell by how AC stepped upfield.Almost the same time, Green ended up busting it right up in front of him. It looks worse than it was, to me anyway. Weddle is the guy who be should be getting blasted for missing the tackle. I do agree with you, he should've made the tackle but i'm not judging him on that one play. We don't know what his responsibility was on that play. Maybe he had outside contain. Alot of times you see a CB just dive low to take out blockers and disregard the ball carrier. I'm just saying, i wouldn't let that one play keep me from acquiring him, especially if the asking price was just TH.I absolutely can judge him on that one play and I will. That was beyond embarrassing and pathetic. During a playoff game no less when its crunch time and the team NEEDED you to make a stinking tackle.
So what you're saying is he CAN be had for THT? lol I still am not saying I want Cromartie but anyone who says he is not an upgrade to our secondary is smoking crack. If there is another CB out there that we could go get then I'd be down for that trade too.1. Cromartie hasnt been productive in two straight seasons now.
2. He is currently being sued by 6 different people, 5 of which are paternity suits to 5 different women in 5 different states.
3. He is late on his child support payments with 2 other women.
4. 2010 is the last year on his contract.
5. Chargers wouldnt be trading a good CB for a good RB. Good CB's have way higher value then a RB. There is a reason why they want to get rid of him, he just hasnt played well 2 years straight, last year of contract, on field issues, and massive amount of off field issues.

My thoughts are above.1. Cromartie hasnt been productive in two straight seasons now. - FAIR
2. He is currently being sued by 6 different people, 5 of which are paternity suits to 5 different women in 5 different states. - WHO CARES?
3. He is late on his child support payments with 2 other women. WHO CARES?

Ok but he is an upgrade at nickle corner. No matter who starts ahead of him he will always be better than Mike Adams or Ralph Brown. Even with him being a FA in 2010, that puts him in a contract year and should be easier to trade for.McFadden held QB's to a lower rating then Cromartie the last two seasons.
I guess i'm in the big minority. CB's are taught to force guys to the inside on run plays. That is a main priority for them and that's what he did. I agreed with you that he should have hit him but that all happened in about 1/100th of a second and that little hesitation is all it took.
Sorry my friend but the bolded above is one funny statement.

I can watch the play and unequivocally tell you that it was HIS responsibility to tackle that guy that he was running right at and was a yard away from and could have beaten to the spot. Then shortened up and watched him run right by. Making a tackle in that situation has zero to do with assignment.

Travis Henry.Man that's Travis what's his face part 2. I used to think the guy would be worth getting but not with that baggage.
