Cromarties at the starting CB spots? Could the Cards do this?

The Chargers’ Super Bowl window may be starting to shrink, because they might have some roster issues with some of their most talented players, including ballhawking starting cornerback Antonio Cromartie(notes).

Reporting for the San Diego Union-Tribune, SN correspondent Kevin Acee writes that team officials may look to trade Cromartie in the offseason to free up some money to sign other key players.

One of those players is running back Darren Sproles(notes), who stands to make $7.3 million in 2010 if he’s tendered as a restricted free agent without a long-term deal in place.

The Chargers would also need to put in a high tender — worth a first- and third-round pick — for wide receiver Vincent Jackson(notes), to protect against teams signing him to an offer sheet they can’t match.

Of course, there’s that little decision on what to do with LaDainian Tomlinson(notes) as well. Tomlinson failed to rush for 100 yards in any game this season, and could be released.

We dont need cupcakes on both sides of the ball....we need somebody who can come up and hit somebody and Mcfadden, although has been a liab in coverage, is a decent CB against the run. I do think Toler needs a shot there and maybe even bring in a vet for some competition to replace R. Brown but we I wouldnt want to see Cromartie here....and I doubt Grave makes a move for him.

I would love to have him. Toler may be good in the future, but Cromartie is good now. As soft as he may be, with the way we miss tackles, no one would notice.

i would take them in a second. A CB's main job is coverage and they are two of the best. Cromartie had more tackles than Asomugha and i think we'd all take him.

Nope. I don't want two CBs that will shut down their receivers, which by the way would probably lead to more sacks. Nope, don't want that at all.

Yeah this.

Corners that hit hard and run 4.6 40s are called SAFTIES.

Cromartie can't tackle and is massively overrated in coverage. Aside from that one good season in 07 where he gambled a lot, he is average at best.

Anyone who wouldn't want Cromartie needs to get their head checked.\

I'd give Boldin and a 5th for Cro

You guys are insane if you would give up Q for that non playing heartless piece of crap.

the same 30 year old Q who doesn't work out at the team facility and misses around 3-4 games a year now because of injury? for a 25 year old cromartie who is an athletic freak who would help our pass rush with his athleticism alone in coverage?

You mean that 3 time 29 year old PB WR Boldin who has been with this team through thick and thin? Is on pace to have a HOF career regardless of the injuries? Leaves it all out on the field WITHOUT QUESTION? Has the unquestioned support and blessing of the two other BIGGEST players on this team as evidence from my signature?

As compared to this in a playoff game: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=222043

An athletic freak don't mean crap when you are afraid to play football.

FAIL! In a playoff game no less.

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=222043

Dude is a 16 game starter and only had 30 tackles 3 ints and ZERO FF's only 10 Passes defensed. Even his cousin had 6 ints 3 FF's a TD and 50 Tackles and 25 passes defensed.

Tackles for CBs is a vastly overrated stat. CBs don't get tackles unless their WR catches the ball generally. Also don't get passes defensed unless they get thrown on. A better stat comparison would be to show what each players WR match up did on them.

haha that is a funny link, but he clearly just took a bad angle. would you rather him stick his arm out or slip like an idiot? he took a bad angle on one tackle.

i could beat 2 links into the ground to make a point too.

Dude that was not a bad angle. That was the epitomy of "I'm afraid to tackle" so I just likely cost my team the game. I'll take that Boldin competative I wanna be in there when the game is on the line fire with Haley all day long over the Cromartie alternative!
