Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is among the best at his position.
The 28-year-old has yet to experience much team success or collect individual accolades; however, there is no denying his talent. Herbert has all the elite tools, and in ESPN's latest NFL quarterback ranking by traits, he ranks in the top 10 in three of the six categories.
ESPN's Dan Orlovsky ranked NFL quarterbacks under six categories: Arm strength, ball placement, mechanics, decision-making with the football, pocket presence and second-reaction ability.
Orlovsky put Herbert in the arm strength, pocket presence and rushing ability categories.
Herbert's highest ranking was No. 2 in arm strength.
"Herbert gets real pop on his throws by driving it. No one has completed more tight-window balls over the past five years than Herbert (162)," Orlovsky wrote.
Orlovsky ranked Herbert No. 4 in pocket presence and No. 5 in rushing ability.
Herbert is expected to be among the favorites to win MVP this season with the addition of offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.
McDaniel has already tweaked some of Herbert's mechanics and is set to transform the offense in a major way that benefits not only the Chargers' signal-caller but the entire offense.
