I've submitted a couple of proposals to the NFL. I'll let you know if I get any feedback.

I'm not a fan of the present set-up in regards to field goals playing such a significant factor in the outcome of games. I proposed two things:

First of all, the idea of giving different point values for field goal distance has been discussed, so that's not new. But what is, is this:

First of all have the goal posts become variable width, depending on the distance of the field goal. They automatically move in or out based on the length as determined by the line of scrimmage.

Then the head coach can also "wager" the number of points that the field goal would be worth. For instance, he could "bet" up to say 5 points for a 45 yarder. If the teams makes it he gets 5 points. if he misses it, he gets 5 points deducted from his teams score.

There's a lot more to my proposal, but it's in the hands of the NFL right now.

Then maybe we can put jet packs on the players backs and lgive them lead pipes. Instead of running for a TD, they have to throw the 'glowball' through the rings while their teammates battle it out with opponents high above the stands in a Virtual reality field.

Man I am only messing with you, but no I dont like it. Sorry!

That's like a modern day Rollerball. And I like it. But that would be for another forum, I'm guessing.

I think you have too much time on your hands. That's the goofiest idea I've ever read, and the fact that you've actually sent it to the NFL is the funniest thing on this board in months.

Why don't you warm up by trying it with the CFL first? :biglaugh:

One time, I submittted an idea to the good folks at Starburst (you know, the candy?).

Here was the dilema I saw with the Starburst candy--they're individually wrapped, which takes some dexterity unwrap to do in the dark of a movie theater, not to mention the noise it makes, disturbing the other movie goers around you. I believe this is why Starburst isn't a popular movie candy.

I suggested to Starburst that they create a Starburst bar, possibly in the form of the current individual pieces connected together by a rod of starburst through the middle. This would keep the familiar size and shape of the candy but make it available in a single wrapper.

They replied and said they couldn't accept unsolicited ideas from outside consultants for legal reasons. I told them I was simply a fan of Starburst and would like an easier way of eating my favorite candy at the movies--I was giving them this idea, donating it; I was just trying to make the world a better place.

Well, long story short, they didn't go for it and now we're stuck unwrapping each and every gosh darn starburst we want to enjoy.

I've always wondered who was responsible for this source of frustration in my life.

But that would take the fun out of trying to open your Starburst by only using your teeth!

Maybe they should change the rules where all the players line up in front of the kicker like a free kick in soccer. It would definitely cause a run on 7 foot tall defensive linemen.

I wouldnt mind seeing a simple +3 for FG made, -3 for FG missed though, but I dont think I will email the league.

I think it is two kittens, like brand new kittens. The guy squashing them sure is enjoying himself.

Kinda like the old "buttered cat" theory. You know, cats always land on their feet, and buttered toast always lands butter side down, so, if you butter a cat's back and drop it out a window, it'll just hover in midair forever.
