AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)-The defending 3A state champions Cross Creek Razorbacks officially got their rings tonight in their auditorium, and it was a very special moment for the team.
The last time Cross Creek won a state championship was back in 2022. The Razorbacks won their third state championship under head coach Lawrence Kelly back in March against Harlem.
They’ve been waiting four months to get their rings. However, in the midst of waiting, the team learned the hard news of coach Kelly becoming the new Richmond County Athletic Director. But that didn’t stop them from spending their final, bittersweet moments together with their new rings.
“Feels great, you know, to spend a lot of moments celebrating a championship ring with him. Even though we’re losing him, we’re also gaining one of our assistant coaches as the head coach,” said Frashad Tisby.
“So, you know, just for us to do that, we still got the chemistry with all our coaches. You know, everything is still going to play out. Practice will go the same way. And, you know, sometimes the nippers, I feel like he’ll still chip in and also help with the recruiting for us,” Tisby said.
The goal next season is win to another state championship ring.
