Trade rumors are swirling across the NBA right now, and this stands true for the Boston Celtics. Jaylen Brown remains one of the top trade chips with the Celtics, but a new prediction shows the 29-year-old guard caught up in a massive four-team trade.
Of course, an official move has yet to be made, but it’s never too early to weigh the various options.
Analyst Jake Weinbach Proposed a Four-Team Trade Involving Jaylen Brown
In a recent prediction, NBA analyst Jake Weinbach suggested a massive trade between the Houston Rockets, the New Orleans Pelicans, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Celtics.
If his prediction comes to fruition, Brown would make his way to the Rockets, ending his 10-year stint with Boston. In a corresponding move, the Celtics would acquire Trey Murphy III (signed to a 4-year, $112,000,000 contract) of the Pelicans, Alperen Şengün of the Rockets, and a 2027 first-round pick swap (via Houston).
New Orleans would land Myles Turner of the Bucks, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2029 first-round pick, and a 2028 first-round pick swap (via Houston).
That leaves Milwaukee, which would then acquire Jabari Smith Jr. of the Rockets. This haul would be rather complicated, but it isn’t out of the question. But as noted, this is simply Weinbach’s prediction.
Brown is the key headliner here, and he’s found himself caught up in a storm of trade rumors in recent weeks.
During his 2025-26 campaign, he averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game, while shooting 47.7% from the floor. This was his most productive season on the court through his 10 years in the league.
Brown continues to be a critical part of Boston’s franchise, but it’s looking more likely he’ll find a home elsewhere. He currently has three seasons remaining of his five-year, roughly $285 million contract, which he signed with the Celtics in July 2023.

In this hypothetical trade, Murphy would then make his way to Boston for the 2026-27 season. During his latest campaign with the Pelicans, he averaged 21.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. He shot 47.0% from the floor.
He has only half the NBA experience of Brown, but he has been a promising young star in the league. Receiving Murphy could be a significant boost for the franchise.
Whether Weinbach managed to crack the code with his prediction or not, fans can expect movement on the horizon.
