Celtics' Jaylen Brown Comments On Knicks Championship: 'Pain To See' originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Celtics were unable to make it out of the first round of the NBA Playoffs, and Jaylen Brown reacted to the New York Knicks' championship during a livestream.
The Celtics were the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, but had to watch the No. 3 seed hoist the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy. With Jayson Tatum out for Game 7 against the Philadelphia 76ers, Brown was unable to carry the Celtics into the next round. He reacted to the Knicks' championship on Sunday night.
"Congrats to the Knicks. Shoutout JB, Anunoby, all those guys, KAT, Bridges, incredible run," Brown said on Twitch on Sunday. "Gotta give credit. Obviously, it's a pain to see, a pain to see, but gotta tip your cap."
Obviously, Brown is not happy that another team won the finals and the Celtics had to watch from home, but he understands how difficult it is to win the finals. He noted how much has to go right for a team to actually win a title.
"The ball just bounced in the right direction for them [in] a lot of those games at the end, with the Anunoby tip-back, Wemby throwing the ball away, the stars lined up," said Brown. "To win a championship, that's what it takes. To be healthy, to be good and you gotta have some luck and some favor."
With trade rumors circulating, it's unclear whether Brown will have a chance to redeem himself for the Celtics, but the team will undoubtedly do everything it can to make a deeper run next season.
