Kendrick Perkins thinks the Boston Celtics might never recover from the Jaylen Brown trade.

The former Celtics champion shared more of his thoughts on the blockbuster deal on ESPN's "NBA Today." He's not alone in thinking the trade could age badly for the Celtics — NESN's Jake Mozarsky gave the franchise a D+ grade for it — but Perkins took it a step further, saying there's a chance it stains Boston "forever."

"This is going to be tied to them in the history of the NBA for the simple fact that not only did you trade an All-NBA caliber player to a rival team, but now you know that was the deciding factor in landing arguably the greatest player to ever play the game that is still playing at an All-NBA level that possibly could go out to win the championship," said Perkins.

"If the 76ers go on to win the NBA championship with LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, it will stain the Boston Celtics forever."

76ers president Mike Gansey recently revealed that he called LeBron's agent, Rich Paul, immediately after acquiring Brown to see if the four-time NBA champion was interested in joining them.

According to Gansey, Paul said the Brown trade "changes some things."

Sure enough, James shocked the world a few weeks later by announcing he's spending what could be the final season(s) of his career in Philadelphia.

The addition of Brown alone made the 76ers one of the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference next season. Getting James on top of that doesn't guarantee them a trip to the NBA Finals, of course, but it does give Philly an even greater chance of ending their championship drought.

Saying that would stain the Celtics forever feels like a step too far — we are talking about one of the most successful sports franchises ever after all — but it's certainly a trade we will talk about for a long time.
