According to CBS Sports' Josh Edwards, the Kansas City Chiefs rank among the top offseasons, but there is a notable concern heading into the 2026 season.

"There are a few concerns about the offseason. The decision to part ways with Matt Nagy felt like a step in the right direction as the offense had become stagnant, but the transition to Eric Bieniemy is not exactly embracing a fresh perspective," wrote Edwards. "The team also released right tackle Jawaan Taylor in a cost-cutting measure. In a vacuum, that was understandable, but trading primary backup Wanya Morris has the position on unsettled ground, considering left tackle Josh Simmons was unavailable for nine games last season."

The Chiefs were ranked 6th on CBS Sports' top-10 list. The secondary additions on defense with Mansoor Delane, Kader Kohou, L'Jarius Sneed, and Alohi Gilman show a completely revamped unit. On offense, notable additions include running backs Kenneth Walker III and Emari Demercado, as well as the drafting of Emmett Johnson. Quarterback Justin Fields was acquired as a backup and insurance for Patrick Mahomes' return from injury.

Kansas City missed the postseason for the first time in over a decade in 2025, with a 6-11 record.
