With less than a month before the start of training camp, the Pittsburgh Steelers still have some roster needs. And some of those needs could warrant the team making a trade either before the start of the regular season or in-season prior to the deadline.
However, one position that isn't a need and definitely isn't a need worthy of a trade is running back. This didn't stop CBS Sports from floating an odd trade hypothetical involving the Steelers and working a deal for Indianapolis Colts Jonathan Taylor.
The Steelers currently have a tandem of Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle, who combine for 2,061 rushing yards in 2025. The Steelers also have second-year back Kaleb Johnson and exciting rookie Eli Heidenreich is also in the fold and lighting up minicamp.
If the Steelers want to pull off a preseason trade, a safety or even another wide receiver might make more sense.
