Nate Oats and Alabama basketball are back in the NCAA Tournament for a sixth straight season.
The Crimson Tide has reached at least the Sweet 16 in four of those five previous seasons, including reaching the Final Four in 2024. However, in that span, Alabama was a first-round exit in 2022 as a No. 6 seed, following a loss to No. 11 Notre Dame.

CBS Sports' Seth Davis thinks the Crimson Tide could face a similar fate in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, despite earning a No. 4 seed. Davis picked No. 13 seed Hofstra to upset the Crimson Tide in the Midwest Region. The first-round game will be played in Tampa, Florida.
"I got my slingshot out for this one," Davis said when picking the upset. "Both my in-laws went to Hofstra. This is my shocker of the tournament, Hofstra over Alabama."
Alabama fans can take some solace, however, as the Crimson Tide were also picked for a possible upset further along the bracket by Jay Bilas. When he was asked about the biggest threat to the region's top seed Michigan, Bilas replied: "Probably Alabama. ... I think Michigan is the best team in this region, but Alabama is the team I really wouldn't want to play because they've got talent and can really shoot the 3."
Alabama finished the regular season 23-9 overall with a 13-5 record in the SEC. The Crimson Tide was knocked out of the quarterfinal round by Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament. It earned the No. 14 overall seed in the tournament.
Hofstra, meanwhile, was the No. 52 seed after finishing the season with a 24-10 record with a 12-6 mark in Coastal Athletic Association play. The Pride defeated Monmouth 75-69 in the CAA championship game to earn an NCAA Tournament berth.
The Pride are coached by former NBA guard Speedy Claxton. The former NBA champion (2003) has led Hofstra to a 105-62 record in five seasons with the program, which includes four 20-win seasons.
