Trigger that guarantee. What does that even mean? Your original post suggested that the NFI made existing contractual guarantees null and void as a result of the injury and inability to perform his duties.

The guarantees in your contract are only guaranteed for football related injuries/performance.

If you get injured away from football your "guarantees" are worthless.

Not true, but I’ve seen that too.
Wouldn't it depend on the incentives in the contract? Like if he has say 100k bonus per game on active roster that would save a team 1.7 mil because player won't be active all year.

I'm not saying this is the case but IMO every case can mean different things to a teams salary cap

Back to the actual topic for this thread: IMO Cards will cut Murphy-Bunting. Don't know how that will impact the cap but maybe they will work out a buy-out deal with him.
He won't get released until next off-season. He'll have the opportunity to rehab on 2025. Probably right before the draft, they will evaluate his health and also the progress of the CBs on the team from 2025 and make a decision to keep him, if he's on track to be healthy and maybe their are questions about the other CBs (likely with a restructured contract) or cut him with an injury designation, if they like the CB room progress and think SMB would just be an expensive luxury.
