While Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur offered some bad news on the team's injury front, announcing that rookie defensive lineman Kaleb Proctor, their fourth-round pick this year, suffered a torn meniscus in his knee that could cost him his entire rookie season.

However, there was also some "great news" about cornerback Garrett Williams, who tore his Achilles in December.

His return will be faster than anticipated. While he will not be able to practice at the start of training camp, meaning he will start on PUP (the physical unable to perform list), he could be back during camp.

"When I first got here, maybe I'm misspeaking here, it was like an October, November thing," he told reporters regarding Williams' potential return, "and now it's talking about in training camp getting him going. So he's put so much good work in. What a special human being that is. And again, what a really good player that this defense missed last year when he went down.

"He'll have a chance for Week 1 for sure."

Williams was limited to 10 games last season. He had a knee injury, returned and then tore his Achilles. He was of the league's best slot corners two seasons ago. In his absence, veteran Sean Murphy-Bunting is now playing nickel.

The Cardinals will open training camp July 22. We will see whether or not he will get back on the field before the season begins.
