ANAEHEIM, CA – Detroit Tigers pitcher Casey Mize left a game against the Los Angeles Angels after he was hit in the hand by a sharp grounder on Sunday, July 19..
In the fourth inning, Jo Adell hit a sharp grounder to Mize.
Mize seemed to trap the ball into his body. He grabbed the ball and threw it to first to get the out.
But Mize instantly grabbed at his left hand. His glove hand.
MOVING PIECES: Detroit Tigers' Keider Montero moved back into starting rotation
Manager A.J. Hinch came out of the dugout and Mize was taken out.
Right-hander Drew Anderson came into the game with the Tigers locked in a 1-1 tie.
Mize threw 3⅓ innings, giving up a run on five hits. He struck out five while walking one.
