Carmelo Anthony played for the New York Knicks during his prime from 2011 to 2017. His move to his hometown team created a lot of buzz around the NBA. However, he failed to deliver a championship despite his strong play.

Fast forward to 2026, the franchise ended its 53-year title drought. The retired forward couldn’t be happier for what the Knicks achieved. He paid tribute to the players and fans.

“Knicks, fans, family, we did it,” Anthony said. “Been 53 years in the making. We finally did it. It took a lot of people to come through, put that jersey on, represent this city. A lot of people who tried, who didn’t get it done”

“Cheers to the Knicks. They got it done this year. New York City, New York. So nice they named it twice. Knicks in 5.”

New York defeated the San Antonio Spurs in five games. While the series didn’t go the distance, it wasn’t easy as the Knicks faced double-digit deficits each game, including in Game 4. They rallied from 29 points down to pull off the largest comeback in NBA Finals history.
