Not sure what the expectation was on the board. Were lots of people thinking the Cards should have beaten the 3 year contract the Fins gave Willis? How do they know the Cards didn’t make a bigger offer? I think the Cards likely set an upper limit on the potential contract and it didn’t get Willis. They supposedly made an offer. As to Garoppolo, IMO no big loss. Just somebody to compete with Brissett. For all we know the snag was not giving him a starting guarantee. Is Minshew the concern? Decent backup at the going rate or less depending on the bells & whistles. None of this would bar signing Simpson if the right trade down was there. Where did all the people clamoring for Brissett to get a chance go to? I’ll wait to see where the QB situation is after next year’s draft. The Cards may be going Simpson. They might be getting in position to make a move next year for a top QB. That is the hardest slot to fill and getting there is a chess game. I think it’s too early to render a final call. It’s fine to have an opinion, but it would be better to give it with your version of the solution. It just seems people are all over the place or complaining about things that it’s way to late to continue analyzing. The Murray ploy failed the only real issue now is where they should go from here? For me I’m okay with Simpson beyond the top 10 and going BPA with the other acquired pick, like the Dallas trade. If that doesn’t materialize, unless 2027 falls apart, I’m good with going all in on a QB in that draft.
