Per NFL network our D has forced 17 negative plays from scrimmage which is #1 in the league. That's a good stat to be leading the entire NFL in IMO.

Thoughts?

I really like what I have seen and posted a thread giving some props to Bill Davis for finally utilizing the players brought in to run the 3-4 by actually running the traditional 3-4. Its not a coincidence that Branch is finally contributing and Campbell and Dockett are blowing the doors off of opposing OLs

Firing Fancy Clancy during the offseason and bringing in a coach who runs a scheme that fits our roster was the best move of the offseason, but I hope to see a little more man coverage in the secondary

Portland Oregon these days.
Clancy to me -- I just don't get it. One week he'd seem to have come up with a brilliant scheme, and really upset the opposing offense. Then the next week -- well. They seemed to be ill-prepared. And the basics, such as tackling, could be very hit and miss (forgive the pun).

It was like he could only do that every other week.

Clancy's problem was one of guts, and not necessarily of brains. When he wanted to or decided to, he could call an aggressive, kill 'em defense. The problem is, he always ended up getting scared, crawling into a shell and reining in the defense. Almost without fail, whenever he did that, our defense would fail. I don't want any DC who gets scared or gets uber-conservative. Ever.

You sure? We saw a lot of that during the GB game.

Honestly we have been a good run defense for a year or two now.

Our pass defense has always been our biggest issue. This Sunday will be a huge test for the weakest part of our defense. Our Pass Rush needs to be HUGE this Sunday.

And the number one problem with that pass defense has been giving up big plays especially on third or fourth and long. Just last week they gave up TD passes on 3rd and 10 and 4th and 10.

Interesting note: Since drafting Dansby and Dockett in 2004 the Cards have ranked in the top 20 in fewest yards allowed 4 times. (5 seasons) and are ranked 6th currently. Before Dansby and Dockett the Cards had ranked in the top 20 only once in the previous 12 seasons. (1994)

Now if those two would quit taking plays off and messing around with their contracts we could have a top 10 defense.

I agree, I think they will have their $trongest $eason yet.

$hould be exciting to watch while they are $till on the team.

I'm surprised either one of them is still in the NFL, much less going into their sixth season on the same team, considering they only play well in a contract year, disappear for entire games, are not leaders, have terrible work habits and post dumb stuff on twitter.

No wonder the Cards only have a winning season once every 10 years.
