Cardinals signed OLB Antonio Coleman, OG Chris Stewart, and TE Martell Webb to reserve/future contracts.

Stewart is a massive blocker (6'5/351) who went undrafted out of Notre Dame last April. Webb is a 276-pound blocking tight end. Coleman had stints on the Bills' active roster in each of the past two seasons, collecting 16 tackles.

Put Stewart at one guard and Lutui at the other and our OL just got 3 feet wider so now edge rushers must go further to get to our QB.

What I like about this news has nothing to do with the individuals signed, but that it illustrates that the Cardinals organization has a plan and is executing it.

I feel the same way. They're excited about next year and already making moves.

The Cardinals have always had a plan. But they'd always shoot themselves in the foot during the execution.

Wow. 3 players of little or no consequence.

Probably. But, you never know, one of these guys might pan out. The Stewart kid is the most interesting one to me. I'd like to see how he can move at camp or a preseason game.

How dare you! people thought Kurt Warner was of little or no consequence.

:eyeroll:
along with James Harrison (any Card fan is aware of his consequence), Jeff Saturday, Antonio Gates, and the list goes on. There's an undrafted success story for almost any position in the NFL. I hope these guys can become the next

Antonio Colman was an excellent OLB when rushing the QB in college and could become a surprise in the Horton System. He has the speeed and the natch to create havoc in the back field. This is an excellent pick up. Did no cost much and maybe eh needs some new scenery and maybe Horton scheme.

Despite all the work we fans do analyzing the draft, free agency etc., take a look at the rosters/depth charts of most clubs and you'll invariably find a few guys you never heard of making a significant positive impact for their respective teams.

Some guys are late bloomers. Some overcame off-the-field problems. Some raw guys with sick athletic ability were able to develop their games to high levels.

It sometimes makes you wonder whether a team should save all that scouting money and just pull names out of a hat come Draft Day.

(The logical response to this is that more knowledge about a player is better than less knowledge and that - despite the fact that you may draft a few busts and sign a few UDFA gems - it's still a process of percentages and probabilities and over time, the numbers will tend to favor the front offices and coaching staffs who do their homework and act the most intellegently in the way they stock their rosters. Bill Parcells used to drive me nuts trading down past an apparent superstar or bringing in a defensive tackle you never heard of. Then his decision would turn out to be spot-on).

Regarding Jefferson - a bunch of us projected him as a late-round draft pick who'd be a perfect fit for Cardinal needs in the secondary at the time.

Coleman is an intriguing pickup. So is the humongous O-lineman (Stewart). And how could you not be intrigued by the blocking damage a 276 lb tight end might do. Certainly no locks, but certainly worth checking out (because you simply never know).

being a ex TE, Whis is thinking...we need more TEs. Four was not enough, we need 5 or 6 on the roster next year LOL...and yes for those who want to bring up the often injured Heap and Housler I get that too. Just really jesting on this because all teams do this (well, the Cardinals might have never started this soon) and could be of importance or it could fall into the probably not category.
