Cape Verde sensation Vozinha won’t be a free agent for long, as the 40-year-old goalkeeper is set to join arguably the most popular professional football club in Chile this summer.
According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Vozinha has reached a verbal agreement to join Colo-Colo on a deal through 2027. The transfer follows a breakout campaign at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup, where he helped Cape Verde reach the Round of 32 for the first time.
Before representing Cape Verde in the quadrennial tournament, Vozinha had left Chaves, a second-division club from Portugal. The Mindelo native was even linked to Inter Miami at one point, among other clubs.

At Colo-Colo, Vozinha will play under Argentine head coach Fernando Ortiz. The Santiago club is planning to win its second Liga de Primera title in three years after last winning it in 2024. As of this writing, they’re currently first in the standings with 39 points and have yet to suffer a defeat.

Vozinha was one of the feel-good stories in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as he helped Cape Verde reach new heights. He burst onto the scene when he helped the Blue Sharks hold eventual champions Spain to a surprising goalless draw in the opening match with seven key saves.
Vozinha became the oldest goalkeeper to record a shutout in a World Cup debut. He also played a pivotal role in their subsequent matches against Uruguay and Saudi Arabia en route to taking the second seed in Group H.
In the Round of 32 against Argentina, the 40-year-old registered eight saves during the 3-2 extra-time defeat, garnering praise from Lionel Messi, among others.
Off the pitch, Vozinha quickly became one of the world’s most popular footballers, with his social media following growing exponentially from 50,000 to over 29 million.
