Since both players are unhappy with their contract, how about the Cardinals cancel their extension and everyone walks away. They can then both sign with any team and the Cardinals gain cap space.

Dhop signed a $54M extension with a $27.5M signing bonus. Dhop would pay back the signing bonus and the Cardinals would gain $30M in cap space. Is Dhop so unhappy he would walk away from $54M.

Budda would pay back $7.5M remaining on his signing bonus and the Cardinals would gain $16.9M in cap space.

$48M in cap space would go a long way in filling the holes on our current roster.

I don't think getting money back from a player counts as a credit to the cap.

Would it?

They have cap space already. They've made a choice to not pursue quality talent.

Pro Football Focus graded Hopkins as the 33rd best wide receiver in the league last season and Baker as the 19th best safety and they are the third highest paid WR and the 8th highest paid safety.
