careful harry, when i espoused a negative view and someone complained that i'm always negative (which is not the case, just merely call 'em as i see 'em as you just aptly explained - for example of positive see my predictions on our draft pick signings) and i responded by pointing to my predictions record i was tabbed as having a "superiority complex." harry, do you have a superiority complex too?

He does! But we still accept and like both of you, Ouchie! With so few genuine fans we will take what we can get! :D

I think what we have had in the past is a case of true fans being in denial about how bad this team was.

I mean if you are a true fan the tendency is to see things with hope and optimisim that is just some peoples human nature when overwhelmed with a bias for a particular team.

Now others can be true fans and still see it more like it really is but when those people point out the true picture it tends to rain on everyone's parade and it can p@ss you off.

I suffer from the same thing but when I really look at the team it is depressing to think that this is again... for the 50th time not our breakout year. I would say that is the case but this time I can't fault the direction even with a brutal unbiased look at it the direction is fine just not where we are on the progress chart.

I would say that if you had a you are here sticker it would be just a few miles on a hundred mile trip past your starting point. In the past we were at the starting point but tied to a post with our car on fire.

This time we have a car and gas so it's all good.

I don't buy the whole "True" fan thing. You either are a die hard fan or you are not. If you follow the cards regularly then obvioulsy you are a die hard fan.

eh, i think if you reread his post he's saying that a true fan can be either optimistic or realistic. his writing may have been a little confusing, but upon closer review i think his intent is right.

I think what I said was accurate.

I simply meant that most die hard .... true fans whatever you want to call them tend to be overly optimistic about our teams true talent level. When you think about this it makes perfect sense.

There are die hard.... true fans that can be negative about this team's talent level and management but still want the team to do well. There just aren't as many of them because well it's a depressing job.

To be realistic and still love this team? Come one that's a die hard because it's gotta have been depressing for at least 47 of the last 50 years.
