I have many issues with Leinart, but the biggest is my belief that he is SOFT. The article here does a great job of pointing out the importance of being mentally tough - as illustrated so beautifully by Kurt. The big question I have for Matty is, will he somehow learn from all of this, pull up his bootstraps and become even 1/2 the QB so many thought he would be? Or, will this be his death blow? Here's the article:

Kurt Warner leaves Arizona Cardinals' Matt Leinart a final lesson

By giving the Seahawks our playbook before disappearing into NFL obscurity.

Do you really believe that with all of the film available to teams, that the Hags and other teams don't know one another's plays, tendancies, etc?? Football is not so much a matter of trickeration, as it is knowing that the other guys know what you are likely to do, yet, still winning the battles!!

Frankly, I'm more interested to see if DA can resurrect his career.

In order to "pull a Kurt" you have to be good at one point in your career, so technically I think it will be impossible ;)

Not to the point that Warner did, but I fully expect him to have a decent career in the NFL with a number of years as starter under his belt by the time he hangs them up.

I guess Leinart is just as easy to kick while he is down and out

I agree with O. Anderson progress is much more important now.

Matt ain't a Card anymore, move on to kicking current players.

I can see it now...Leinart will sign with the Cleveland Browns and lead them to their first super bowl.

I'm still not happy about Matt's departure, but I keep having the nagging feeling we just released the next backup QB for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the UFL (playing for Dennis Green, and playing behind Duante Culpepper)...

This. :D

Perennial backup in the NFL. Does not have the mental grasp on the game to succeed at game speed. IMO

Meanwhile we jump on the Bandwagon of a guy who only completed 44.5% of his passes and had a 42.1 QB rating last year. If DA can turn it around so can Leinart.

I always like to remember Trent Green in these situations. Only threw 1 pass his first 4 years in the NFL. Gets a chance, plays well then gets hurt and watches Warner take the Rams to the SB.

Finally gets to KC and over the next 5 seasons throws for 20,117 yards and 171 Touchdowns.

The only way that Matt would ever pull a Kurt, (I assume you are referring to his making it with another team after washing out with this one), is if Matt suddenly developes a work ethic. That is not likely to happen, considering he couldn't do that while Kurt was showing him how hard you have to want it to succeed. I am not concerned that he will come back to haunt us-----in fact I would love to see how he would play against out D on a day that it counted and the D wouldn't be holding back. Its a shame that Matt got all caught up in playing 'Matt Hollywood' in real life. He was the possessor of some nice skills and attributes, which he promptly wasted.

Do you think that Kurt Warner went to the Super Bowl with his first pro team?

Good point. It was his third. If Joeshmoe had been a Rams fan at the time he would have been posting that Warner couldn't be any good because he'd already been released by two teams and not been picked up by anyone else.

:D

He will be good and some of us will be pissed that we let him go to go with a proven loser over some reason we may never know. And I'm sorry but I can't imagine all the vets on this team are ok with having a freaking rookie udfa as the backup. This whole situation was handled terribly and I for one have a little less faith in our hc than before. Hopefully DA can miraculously not be the terrible qb his career stats show and can somehow stay healthy the entire season. If a rookie ends up starting for us this year say bye bye to playoff football!

I'm not sure if Matt can pull a Kurt. I've never seen Matt bag groceries. Is he any good?
