Campbell County boys basketball star Austin Davie is leaving the Camels to transfer to Western Reserve Academy, a prep school in Hudson, Ohio.
Davie announced the decision July 12 on his social media accounts, posting a picture of himself in his new uniform.
He averaged 25 points per game for the Camels last season, shooting 56% from the floor and averaging 8.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He set a school record with 50 points in a game during a 90-89 win over Nicholas County Feb. 13 and scored more than 1,300 career points in two years with the Camels.
He was the 10th Region Player of the Year and first-team all-conference in Northern Kentucky, leading the Camels to a 22-10 record and the 37th District championship.
Western Reserve, a private boarding school in Hudson, Ohio, has been a destination for local players over the years, most recently highly recruited former Lebanon star Anthony Thompson.
It does not participate in the Ohio High School Athletic Association, but rather is an associate member of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) for high-level prep school competition.
