Another beautiful day practice was held on the upper fields. Jim Dray was back at practice today. Ben patrick was running around very well already. he was even doing change of direction drills on the side.
They started again with KR practice with the QB's working on their footwork again. Then they broke into individual drills. About the only thing that stuck out to me during the drills was that Roberts case of the dropsies have appeared to return.
After individual drills they started 11 on 11. Matt's forst pass skipped along the ground on the outside. Fitz went inside and he threw outside. Based on body language and reaction I'm assuming that one was on Matt. His next throw was a throw to high over Spachs head that landed safely on the ground about 10 yards in front of the OL. The next play was a run to Hightower.
Anderson was next and he completed one of two passes. The completion was an outside pass in the flat to Wright. Then he handed off for 2 run plays to Beanie.
During the next series for Matt he was throwing out of the shotgun he went 2-4 first completion was an inside slant about a 7 yard pass to Fitz. The second was a 5 yard out play to Onrea Jones. His very next throw was a pass to Spach which Adrian Wilson stepped in front of and dropped a sure int. His other incompletion was a ball thrown a little to far in front of the WR.
Anderson was up again and went 1-3 during his passes and was missing the mark as well. His one completion was on a short dump off to the RB.
Matt got up again and this time his first throw was the worst throw I have seen him throw all of camp. He was in shotgun and the throw literally made a B-line for the feet of the offensive line. There is no way to tell who it was meant for or intended for. It was just a terrible throw. He followed that up with a 5 yard completion to Fitz on a crossing pattern.
After the 11 on 11 they broke up into WR vs CB drills and OL vs DL drills. It was nice to see Grimm back running the drills again. Players that stood out on both sides were Stevie Baggs,(the kid does have some quicks) & Calais Campbell (he was being ooohed and ahhed by the other Dline after the quickness and moves he was displaying) Gabe Watson hurt his foot and had his shoe off being looked at by the trainer. He did come back however.
Reggie Wells completely stoned DD not once but twice during this drill. Was nice to see the way DD had been abusing the G's earlier in camp. Brandon Kieth looks particularly sharp IMO.
During the WR v CB drills all the QB's from what I can see were basically dumping off and not shooting for anything long.
After this it was back to 11 on 11. Matt had a bailout pass to Hightower for a completion on his left flank. The nexty play he was sacked by DD who seemed to come from where Faneca was blocking. The third play was a run.
Anderson's turn and on the first play he pitched the ball outside to Beanie who promptly fumbled the ball. the next play was a fumbled QB/center exchange. Both balls recovered by the D.
Matt was up again and this time he had a ball batted down by DD and a 7 yard completion to the FB Broughton in the flat. was a total of 1-2 on this go around.
Anderson was back up and he handed the ball to Beanie who went running up the seem. Hamza Abdulla literally crushed him with a punishing blow about 20 yards past the LOS. Beanie went down and was down for a good 3-5 minutes before finally being gingerly helped off the field and then carted to the locker room. SCARY SCARY moment. I hope the kid is ok and didnt break anything. You are in the open air environment up there and the crack that hit made was REALLY loud. Im sure the other players will be having a talk with Hamza about that. or at least I hope they will.
Didnt get much after that was to busy being worried about Beanie getting up to watch what was going on in the 11 on 11 drill from that point. After he was carted off I was able to catch Roberts semi redeeming himself makingjust a beautiful catch for a TD on a long bomb by Anderson. He has to adjust and come back to the ball to make the catch. It was a thing of beauty.
Will have a another report sometime tomorrow evening following that practice.
