Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is gearing up for an exciting second season where he'll get to work with one of the NFL's brightest offensive minds in new head coach Ben Johnson.
Johnson, who led a top-ranked Detroit Lions offense for three straight years, was brought in to get the Bears back to their winning ways -- but also to get the most out of Williams, who looked the part of a franchise quarterback amid a promising rookie season.
With the Bears returning to Halas Hall this week for the start of the offseason program, Williams will finally get the chance to work with Johnson in the classroom, and he's eager for his new head coach to push him to his limit.
"Us growing together is key," Williams told reporters Tuesday at Halas Hall. "Starting now. Him pushing me is key. I know that, and he knows that."
Chicago has dedicated a ton of resources to help build around Williams, including overhauling the entire interior offensive line. But the biggest addition is Johnson, who turned Jared Goff into a Pro Bowl quarterback and jumped at the opportunity to work with Williams.
"If you have that position right, it helps with a bunch of different things," Williams said of the NFL being a quarterback-driven league. "Building that bond, (Johnson) pushing me and us growing together for years to come is going to be fun. I can't wait, and to be able to help me learn more about ball because he's super smart, super sharp."
Johnson's track record speaks for itself when it comes to offensive production. If he can maximize Williams' potential, the sky's the limit for the Bears.
