Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is coming off a standout rookie season in which she averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game. After a long offseason, she's finally back on the court, as the Fever, along with the rest of the WNBA, kicked off training camp on Sunday.
They'll have several days of practice before playing their first preseason game on Saturday against the Washington Mystics.
During Sunday’s session, new Fever head coach Stephanie White had the team running full-court five-on-five drills. Clark’s navy squad came up with a steal and pushed the ball the other way.
Clark pulled up for a three and buried it. After the shot dropped, she turned and purposely banged her head against the wall behind her.
A video of the moment emerged on social media. Check it out:
A fan took the opportunity to zoom in on Clark specifically during the bang. Here's a closer look at it:
Over the past year, fans have gotten used to Clark’s playful side, whether it’s joking with teammates or having fun during practice. It’s not exactly clear why the 23-year-old decided to bang her head against the padded wall after making a shot. If anything, one would expect that kind of reaction after a miss.
Expectations are sky-high for Clark heading into the 2025 WNBA season. After finishing in the top five in MVP voting as a rookie, she’s already the betting favorite to win it this year (ESPNBET). Her odds sit at +200, ahead of Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson at +235 and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier at +400.
