Detroit — The Detroit Pistons have ruled out guard Cade Cunningham for Thursday night's game against the Washington Wizards. Cunningham sustained a left back contusion during the first quarter of Tuesday's 130-119 victory over the Wizards at Capital One Arena.

There is still no timetable for Cunningham's return. But with 14 games left in the regular season, the All-NBA guard will make his return in time to still qualify for awards.

In 61 games played this season, Cunningham has averaged 24.9 points on 46.1% shooting from the field, along with 10.1 assists, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.5 steals. He is currently fifth among guards in blocks, with 53 rejections. The league requires players to play at least 65 games to qualify for regular-season awards.

Second-year guard Daniss Jenkins will likely start in Cunningham's place. Against the Wizards, he played a huge role in keeping the Pistons afloat, finishing with 15 points, 6 assists, and two steals in 20 minutes.
