Chicago Bulls rookie forward Caleb Wilson will sit out for their final game in the NBA Summer League on Friday in Las Vegas, Nevada, the team announced.
Wilson finished his stint with the Bulls by averaging 23.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.5 blocked shots, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 41.9% from 3-point range (13-for-31). He leads all players in total points (94), having scored 19 or more in each appearance.
The No. 4 overall pick pushed to play in as many games as possible, firmly believing that it is his duty to maximize his time on the court. But the team had seen enough of his play in game action and in practice and were comfortable shutting him down.
Wilson debuted with the Bulls on July 10, recording 35 points, five rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals in 33 minutes. His 35 points were the second most scored in a debut in the Las Vegas Summer League, which began in 2004.
The soon-to-be 20-year-old has earned comparisons to Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett because of his similar skill set and ability that was on display in the desert. Even "The Big Ticket" has bought into it, reportedly referring to Wilson as "The Little Ticket."
Wilson dazzled throughout his time on the court, showcasing precisely why he was so highly touted entering the draft. He is already eager to get back to the Windy City and get on the court ahead of what should be a productive rookie campaign.
